A stunning Victorian building dating back to 1875, the Purbeck House Hotel, Swanage was originally built as a private home, became a convent school for sixty years and afterwards was converted into a welcoming hotel, full of history, character and original charm. Here you will find comfortable rooms, a light and airy garden conservatory where breakfast is served and Bar 1875 to relax in at the end of the day.

Across the garden is the Louisa Lodge annex, a newer build of local Purbeck Stone. The Lodge is purely for accommodation, offering a variety of different room types. Guests staying here can enjoy more modern surroundings whilst still having full access to the Main House.

Nestled in extensive gardens in the centre of SwanagePurbeck House Hotel & Louisa Lodge is a 5-minute walk from the beach. Family-run and steeped in over a century of history, it also has free parking and a bar.

The bedrooms are divided between the main house, built in 1875, and the newly-built Louisa Lodge. All have a flat-screen HD TV, an iPod dock and a private bathroom whist some have sea or garden views.

Breakfast is served in the Elizabeth Garden Conservatory every morning from 07:30 to 10:00 Monday to Saturday and 08:00 – 10:00 on Sundays.

The World Heritage Jurassic Coast is just 350 yards away from the Purbeck, with the famous Monkey World Zoo a 20-minute drive. Swanage Train Station is a 5-minute walk away.

Couples particularly like the location — they rated it 9.5 for a two-person trip.

The Purbeck House Hotel and Louisa Lodge offer a variety of bedrooms to suit all of our guests needs. We have single rooms, standard doubles, rooms that can be double or twin bedded, sea view rooms, larger Superior rooms and, in the Lodge, two with balconies overlooking Swanage Bay. All of our bedrooms have en suite bathrooms.

Catering to all of your wedding needs, we can offer ceremonies, receptions or both. For your ceremony you have the use of our Purbeck Room. Originally George Burt’s billiards room, it became a chapel during the sixty years when the building was a Convent school and so lends itself perfectly to making your big day feel even more special.

We have a number of different sized rooms available to hire for business meetings, conferences and events. Depending on your requirements we can provide a projector, flip charts and tea and coffee.
