Gate Theatre, Notting Hill, London has been inspiring audiences and artists alike for 35 years. We are a small theatre but we always Think Big.
London, the capital of England and the United Kingdom, is a 21st-century city with history stretching back to Roman times. At its centre stand the imposing Houses of Parliament, the iconic ‘Big Ben’ clock tower and Westminster Abbey, site of British monarch coronations. Across the Thames River, the London Eye observation wheel provides panoramic views of the South Bank cultural complex, and the entire city.

The Gate Theatre was founded in Notting Hill in 1979 to stage groundbreaking international plays.
Today, the Gate exists to make international theatre that is representative of our diverse local communities – from the people we collaborate with, to the stories we tell – our work investigates what it means to be alive now.
The Gate is a nurturing space for artists to imagine, play, think, and create theatre that surprises, challenges and inspires. Our productions push the boundaries of what theatre is and what else it could be.
Our work is a live conversation with our audience and our local partner organisations. Currently, our theatre is an intimate, 75 seat space that transforms with every production – no two visits are ever the same
